CaeNDR.org
CaeNDR.org
CaeNDR.org provides data and tools used in comparative genetics to the scientific community. As part of Northwestern IT's Media and Technology Innovation team, I led all design efforts to redesign CaeNDR into a new, interactive toolkit centered around a genomic database available to researchers worldwide, resulting in an 87% increase in average monthly site visits and a 23% increase in average time on site.
Seminary Co-Op
Seminary Co-Op
Seminary Co-Op and 57th Street Books are two independent, non-profit bookstores located in the Hyde Park neighborhood of Chicago. Prior to the pandemic, these stores were known for offering a superb in-store browsing experience. However, the stores have closed due to the pandemic, and now rely solely on their ecommerce experience to survive. This has highlighted the difficulty of browsing books and finding information on their site and created the need for an information architecture redesign in order to recreate the in-store discovery experience digitally. Completed as part of HCI 457: Information Architecture at DePaul University.
D2L coLab
D2L coLab
D2L coLab is an app designed to allow students to communicate about group projects. The app is intended to help in-class and online students collaborate on assignments. The app is intended to integrate with the Brightspace D2L (Desire to Learn) learning-management system, which is used by universities nationwide. The app gives students the ability to set up video meetings with classmates, participate in online chat sessions, have easy access to assignments from instructors, collaborate on shared documents, and assist with project management by allowing students to create and assign tasks to other team members and manage a team calendar. Completed as part of HCI 430: Prototyping and Implementation at DePaul University.

About.

Hi, I'm Natalie.
I’m a versatile UX designer based in Chicago. I create a clear and creative design vision which helps navigate ambiguity and achieve results. I balance human needs with business goals by working on projects end-to-end, from UX strategy to front-end implementation. I enjoy partnering with both engineering and business stakeholders to create simple solutions that range from professional to playful, from conventional to creative.

I'm currently a senior UX/UI designer on Northwestern IT's Media and Technology Innovation team. When I'm not designing, I enjoy bike rides by Lake Michigan, philosophy, internet culture, Wordle, Quordle, and the occasional impromptu dance party.
